This election is about choosing who governs our country and I think most people in Burnley and Padiham know that when all the votes are counted on May 8th we will either have a Conservative Government or a Labour Government.
We are at a crossroads and at this election we have a choice about the path that we take. The choice is this : You can choose to continue with this very unequal, very unfair Government where those who are already very rich are helped to get richer at the expense of ordinary people. There is no better example of the unfairness of this Coalition Government than the cuts in Government grant funding here in Burnley. Since 2010 our funding has been cut by 54% whilst some authorities most notably in some prosperous areas in the South have had increased funding. You can choose to continue with this or you can vote for Labour. You can choose to keep the bedroom tax, job insecurity and low pay. You can choose to leave thousands of children in Burnley and Padiham to grow up in poverty, old people worried that the care they need won’t be there for them when they need it, young people burdened with debt, too many unable to find work that does justice to their talents or you can vote for a Labour Government to put a stop to all this with fair policies dedicated to ensuring that this country is run in a fair and decent way for the benefit of ordinary British people
