Shadow Rail Minister Visits Burnley

Lillian Greenwood MP Shadow Minister for Railways visited Burnley on Friday 1st August. She was appalled to hear that even though the long awaited rail link to Manchester has been in place since May there is no train to run on the line and none likely to be available till the new year. The rail link, which is intended to link the economies of Burnley and Manchester will contribute an estimated £12m each year to Burnley, therefore every month that Burnley is without train is costing the town £1m in lost investment. Burnley's candidate Julie Cooper said "The fact that we have not a single train demonstrates  this Government's incompetence and lack of commitment to Northern towns."
